Military Green and All of it’s Glory

Some poeple love it, some people hate it, but whatever your opinion, military green is an everlasting fashion trend. From the freedom fighters in the 60's and the grunge kids of the 90's to today's trendsetters, military green pants, coats and vests are always a must have. Leaving the rain behind us, here in Seattle anyway, more and more people are able to use lighter coats and jackets! For most Seattlites, this means hoodies and military inspired jackets.

I can say that I see much more of the green coats here in Seattle than I ever did in Los Angeles. Now is this because of the growing popularity, or the fact that Seattle is basically the birthplace and home of the "grunge" movement? I don't think I can say for sure. What I can say is that up here in the Northwest (not to be confused with the poorly named 'Kimye' spawn), we do love our military fashion in all sorts of ways. That beautiful green is seen on pants, shirts, coats, vests, hats, and so much more. Of course, for this article, I will focus on the coats and show you some options for all types of weather!

First we have the standard, lightweight jacket. You can find them pretty much anywhere nowadays. I bought mine from BP at Nordstrom and I absolutely love it! I wear it almost daily. The reason I like this one so much is because it's a nice shade of green with a more gray tone to it, and I love that it has a drawstring bottom so it isn't too boxy. Plus the sleeves look great rolled up, which is a plus! It is currently on sale for $26.98 (which is a steal considering I paid $54.00) and actually comes in a variety of colors just in case. It can be found here: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/rubbish-drawstring-waist-twill-jacket-juniors/3592674?cm_cat=datafeed&cm_ite=rubbish(r)_drawstring_waist_twill_jacket_(juniors):961941&cm_pla=outerwear:women:short_jacket/coat&cm_ven=pricegrabber&mr:referralID=54bf2598-f907-11e3-bded-001b2166c62d

Then we have the something for those of you still fighting the rainy/snowy weather, the "Rain Slicker" jacket from Urban Outfitters. This one is slightly different from the military green we are used to, but that is mostly due to the fabric. This water proof style coat is great for colder weather, but it still looks very stylish! Grab it from UO for $89.00! I know that price is a bit steep for some, but in the long run, it really is an investment. I would never have said that back in LA, but now living in a city that rains 75% of the year, I know that investing in the right outerwear is the best decision you can make. Finally, the last piece I want to advertise to you all is the more traditional crop jacket. This beautifully fitted little number is a real treat, especially now that it's on sale! (Sale is one of my favorite words. Ever.) Zara has an awesome military inspired jacket that is hits right below the waist and is fitted perfectly. The cool detailing of the star studs on top of the shoulders are an awesome piece that really pull the look together. Check it out here: http://www.zara.com/us/en/sale/trf/stock-clearance/collection/military-jacket-with-frill-c555503p1769580.html6394246505_1_1_1

So I managed to pull some of my favorite pieces from some of my favorite stores! I hope you guys love them as much as I do, and if you do go show those retailers some love. Or moreso, show yourself some love and grab a really cool layering piece. You probably deserve it, or not, but who the hell cares right?
