The Wolf of Wall Street was a very well made movie. There is no way I could disagree with that. Everything was well done, the script was well written and the acting was on top of the pack. One of the biggest problems I had with the film was the fact that it was damn near three hours long. I feel like it was three hours of the same thing over and over again. What the hell did the non-edited version look like? Were there a lot of cuts?
With everything that is going on right now, the economy downfall, Wall Street largely to blame for it, it kind of made me disgusted to see what these people were doing. There were making large amounts of money, spending it on hookers and drugs and they pretty much got away with it. I’m sorry but this makes me want to cut the basterds balls off. I get that this is a movie and its based off of a true story but this guy is the epitome of what the fuck is wrong with Wall Street. Sure that was the point but I feel like this film in a way glamorized what was going on. It showed that there are not real consequences for what you do in that world. You get maybe three years, and then you can have a fresh start, selling more crap to people and stealing more money from the public. Great that’s what we really need right now.
Over all I did not like this movie at all. My 18-year love of Leo could not replace my pure hatred for that world and everything that comes with it. I wanted to walk away from it, I didn’t care about the damn ending of it, I stuck it out but I was angry while doing it. I know that this won’t change as long as we allow something like Wall Street to work they way they do .But I guess people won’t learn after the stock crash that caused the great depression and then the stock crash that created a second great depression. In fact this film shows exactly why we are here. Matthew McConaughey’s character shows us why it can’t work, they don’t care about making money for anyone but themselves, they lie steal and cheat to help themselves which will throw anyone else under the bus.
